We pride ourselves on being probably the most proactive, innovative and fastest growing Lodge in London. So If you are interested in joining Freemasonry and maybe Canterbury Lodge in particular, why not browse the pages and to see what we get up to.
People want to know how to become a Freemason for a variety of reasons. Some are attracted by the valuable work that the movement performs in raising money for charity.
A proportion of these funds are used to assist Freemasons and their dependents in times of need, particularly the sick and the elderly, but the greater part goes to non Masonic charities – local, national and international. Freemasons also assist the community in more direct ways, such as carrying out voluntary work. Others become Freemasons because of the unique fellowship it provides. Visit a Masonic lodge anywhere in the country – or indeed, the world – and you are greeted as an old friend. Freemasonry is the ultimate leveller, a community where friendship and goodwill are paramount. You can find out more about joining Freemasonry by viewing and if you wish download the leaflets and contents from the United Grand Lodge of England’s Website

Why Canterbury Lodge?
Freemasonry in London is graced with many Lodges. Some which were established in the early days of the formation of the United Grand Lodge of England. Some Lodges have members from a particular walk of life and profession whilst others have a more varied base of brethren which makes for an eclectic mix and an opportunity to meet others engaged in activities different to our own. Even so, the principles of freemasonry remain the same and it is these that we share together as members of a Lodge.
Canterbury Lodge would fall into the second category and our members come from a wide selection of backgrounds including; engineers, serving and former police officers, banking, recruitment, project management, the London taxi trade and also dentistry as well as a number of other professions This mix represents a good cross section of our membership. However, although this makes for an interesting demographic, the essential thing is to be committed to the Lodge where your colleagues will become your friends for life and to ensure that it thrives.
Canterbury Lodge welcomes persons who will join us as we move ahead in to the 21st century and beyond. All are welcome irrespective of religion or ethnicity.
