Why Become a Freemason?

There are many reasons why people want to become a freemason. Many people are attracted by the valuable work that the movement performs in raising money for charity. A proportion of these funds are used to assist Freemasons and their dependents in times of need, particularly the sick and the elderly, but the greater part goes to non Masonic charities – local, national and international. Freemasons also assist the community in more direct ways, such as carrying out voluntary work.

Another big reason to become a Freemason is because of the unique fellowship it provides. Visit a Masonic lodge anywhere in the country, or indeed, the world, and you are greeted as an old friend. Freemasonry is the ultimate leveller, a community where friendship and goodwill are paramount.

Why Canterbury Lodge?

Freemasonry in London is graced with many Lodges. Some were established in the early days of the formation of the United Grand Lodge of England. Some Lodges have members from a particular walk of life and profession, whilst others have a more varied base of brethren, which makes for an eclectic mix and an opportunity to meet others engaged in activities different to our own. Even so, the principles of freemasonry remain the same and it is these that we share together as members of a Lodge.

Canterbury Lodge members come from a wide selection of backgrounds including; engineering, policing, banking, recruiting, project managing, dentistry, and many more. No matter who our members are, the most important thing is that they are all committed to the Lodge, ensuring it thrives and turning colleagues into friends for life.

Our Lodge prides itself on being one of the most proactive, innovative, and fastest growing in London. We welcome anyone who will join us as we move into the 21st century, irrespective of religion or ethnicity.

The next Lodge meetings are:
